Un disco potente che racconta la Calabria della seconda metà del secolo:poesia, ritmo e suoni di strumenti provenienti da ogni parte d’Italia e del mondo. La disperazione e la passione di un
Sud che vuole combattere per una vita migliore. La rivoluzione che ha i colori vividi dell’albero di more, l’immigrazione, la fatica che spezza la schiena; la poesia, il ritmo che si rincorre, l’incastro dei suoni di strumenti provenienti da ogni parte d’Italia e del mondo.  Tutto questo è “L’albero di more” (pubblicato da CalabriaSona),

il nuovo album da solista di Paolo Sofia, cantautore calabrese, nonché frontman e anima creativa dei”QuartAumentata”. Il disco, che è ispirato al romanzo                          “La maligredi” di Gioacchino Criaco (edizioni Feltrinelli), è già disponibile negli store digitali e dal 20 aprile anche in distribuzione fisica. La scommessa, quella di raccontare in musica una Calabria della seconda metà del secolo scorso, è vinta.

Così come nel libro di Criaco, il disco di Paolo Sofia, cantautore sensibile e raffinato, ci racconta lo smarrimento di una generazione che vedeva i padri partire per terre lontane e le madri spezzarsi la schiena nella raccolta dei gelsomini.  E non solo:              in questo disco ci sono aspirazioni, sogni e delusioni di interi paesi a sud del mondo che volevano far sentire la loro voce. Cresce la consapevolezza dei diritti negati, è tempo di combattere per ottenerli, pulsa la protesta operaia.

Il disco si avvale di importanti collaborazioni e di special guest come Fabrizio Ferracane, attore pluripremiato, tra i protagonisti di “Anime nere” di Francesco Munzi (film premiato con 9 David di Donatello); Francesco Loccisano, virtuoso della chitarra battente, talento riconosciuto in tutto il mondo e Mimmo Cavallaro, rappresentante internazionale della musica etnica calabrese. La direzione artistica del lavoro è di Mujura, musicista e produttore innovativo che ha voluto inserire in quest’opera una vasta tavolozza di suoni folk provenienti da varie zone d’Italia e del mondo. Così, al fianco di strumenti classici e pop, come batteria, chitarre classiche e elettriche, basso, chitarra slide, clarinetto, sax e timpani, troviamo: bouzouki, mandola, mandolino, lira calabrese, marranzano, launeddas  (tipico strumento a fiato sardo), chitarra battente, didgeridoo (antico strumento australiano a fiato ad ancia labiale), tamburelli vari, duduk (strumento a fiato armeno), bansuri (flauto nepalese), riqq (tamburo tipico della musica araba), darbuka (tamburo turco), pipita (ciaramella calabrese), zampogna, flauti a paru (doppi) e cavaquinho (ukulele portoghese).
I testi dei brani sono di Paolo Sofia tranne “Basami”, che è firmato da Giovanni Ruffo. Mentre “Animi niri” ha visto la collaborazione dello stesso Gioacchino Criaco.
La voce femminile è quella di Valentina Balistreri, interprete di grande intensità, dal cognome
importante legato alla tradizione del folk siciliano.La produzione esecutiva è targata CalabriaSona.
