Antonio Smiriglia

Antonio Smiriglia’s powerful voice is unique and brought him to various collaborations. Peppe

Bara introduced him to the works of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare founded by Italian

legendary musician and songwriter Eugenio Bennato. For several years he worked with the band

Mokarta. He then became the frontman of Discanto Siculo, before dedicating himself to and

directing the choir Cantori of Galati Mamertino, the keepers of Nebrodi’s oral tradition – with

whom he has four recordings to his credit. He has also collaborated with Italian legend Franco

Battiato and Ambrogio Sparagna of the Orchestra Popolare Italiana (Womex 2009)
